The Units of Competency
To achieve a Certificate I in Information Technology a total of SIX (6) units of competency must be completed. This comprises THREE (3) core units of competency plus THREE (3) elective units of competency as detailed in the packaging rules and listed below.
CORE UNITS OF COMPETENCY
ICAU1128A Operate a personal computer
ICAU1129A Operate a word processing application
ICAU1133A Send and retrieve information using web browsers and email
ELECTIVE UNITS OF COMPETENCY (3 selected from the following)
ICAU1130A Operate a spreadsheet application
ICAU1131A Operate a database application
ICAU1132A Operate a presentation package
ICAU2005A Operate computer hardware
Note: Units of competency ICAU1130A, ICAU1131A, ICAU2005A are recommended as electives where an effective pathway to a Certificate II in Information Technology is required.
